Habitat for Humanity Mid-Yellowstone Valley is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry which forms partnerships with volunteers who share the vision of eliminating poverty housing worldwide. We are an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a Christian housing ministry founded in 1976, which seeks to eliminate poverty housing from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Description:
We are a non-profit, autonomous corporation guided by a board of directors and committee structure. There are seven paid staff positions.

We join in partnership with eligible low income families to change the conditions in which they live. This is truly a partnership program where those in need work together with many volunteers to build simple, decent houses that cost less because they are sold to the families with a no-interest, no-profit mortgage.

History:
Our affiliate has been in existence since 1992 and has built a total of 45 houses in Billings,Laurel, and Shepherd. The community lends strong support with many donations of goods, services, and volunteers.

We continually seek even more interested volunteers who are willing to join with us to help us achieve our goals. There are many ways to become involved: serving on various committees, working at our construction sites helping to build houses, providing lunches/snacks for jobsite volunteers and for other events, working in the Habitat ReStore, assisting in the office, assembling quarterly newsletter mailings, and more!

The ReStore is a building materials re-sale store that raises money to help cover our operating expenses thus more of our donor dollars go directly in to construction. We receive donations of new and used building materials from individuals who are remodeling, contractors that have leftover items, and businesses that have unwanted or returned items they can't use. These items are sold at a fraction of the "new" price. Our store helps homeowners fix up their houses at a price that is affordable. ReStores also keep tons of items out of the landfill. There are 100's of Habitat for Humanity ReStores all over the world.

Volunteers help in three hour shifts by prepping items for sale, pricing, assisting customers, helping to pick up donations, etc. Store hours are Mondays-Thursdays from 9 AM-3 PM, Fridays from 9 AM-5 PM, and Saturdays from 9 AM-3 PM.
