CARH-Inc. is committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and seniors residing in care facilities. Through our various activities, outreach programs, services and with the ongoing support from the community, we continue to achieve our mission.
Description:
We serve mentally retarded and elderly living in placement in Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano counties. We provide picnics, a birthday program, bingo, campership grants, crafts, dental hygiene services, entertainment, summer balls, general grants, holiday dances, movies, animal program, VHS/DVD loaning library, wish program and much more. We have a santa sew program in which we have volunteers that knit and crochet all year long so we can give gifts at Christmas. We also enlist santa to help distribute the over 7000. gifts. We have a monthly bulletin in which we need volunteers to help prepare for mailing. We need volunteers to decorate and help serve refreshments at our functions.
History:
Founded in 1972, by Leo and Barbara Guidotti with other individuals who were directly involved in the care of the mentally retarded. Programs and services were designed to meet the needs of clients in a way which may not be offered by governmental or other agencies.
