Operation Christmas Child - Samaritan's Purse
Like to help people? Here's a great volunteer opportunity for you. Operation Christmas Child will be collecting gift-filled shoe boxes from Bay Area churches and other centers to send to children in over 100 countries around the world during the 2009 National Collection Week, November 16 to November 23. In 2008, Operation Christmas Child collected 7,967,001 shoebox gifts worldwide, over 4.5 million in the United States, over 46,000 in the Bay Area, and over 21,000 in the East Bay.
History:
Operation Christmas Child is a project of international Christian relief organization Samaritan’s Purse, ranked three times by SmartMoney magazine as America’s most efficiently-run charity. Headed by Franklin Graham, Samaritan’s Purse is currently working in some 100 countries providing relief and aid to victims of war, natural disaster, famine, disease, and poverty.
