Keep Oakland Beautiful
Keep Oakland Beautiful is an Advisory Board to the City of Oakland's Public Works Agency. It assists the City in promoting greening, beautification and reducing litter.
Description:
The Keep Oakland Beautiful Advisory Board (KOB) each year assists in beautification efforts in the City of Oakland working in partnership with the City's Public Works Agency and community organization partners. KOB each October distributes approximately 45,000 daffodils for planting in public spaces. KOB also leads a Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup project each Spring, helping with beautification at a school, park or community site. The Board also assists at Oakland public schools in supporting beautification projects, and this year helped in landscaping the entry to 2 high schools in East Oakland. KOB also supports the City's Earth Day and Creek to Bay Day projects working with many Oakland community organizations and volunteers.
History:
Keep Oakland Beautiful is a local affiliate of the national Keep America Beautiful organization. The KOB Board has been in existence for approximately five years, and is advisory to the City of Oakland Public Works Agency. The KOB has a part-time staff person, and works closely with the Keep Oakland Clean and Beautiful Division of the Public Works Agency.
