Logo

The First Tee of Oakland mission is to positively impact the lives of young people of Oakland by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character-development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. Our program will follow the process and principles as defined by The First Tee, teaching nine core values of life skills. The nine core values of The First Tee are Integrity, Honesty, Sportsmanship, Judgment, Responsibility, Perseverance, Confidence, Courtesy and Respect.

Description:
To make golf more accessible and affordable in the Oakland metropolitan area to adolescents of all diversities, social strata and those with physical disabilities, particularly children and young people who otherwise may not have an opportunity to learn and play the game of golf.

History:
The First Tee of Oakland received its charter in December of 2008. We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit. Our official launch will be April 16, 2009. Our parent organization More Choices, Inc. (MCI), is a Not-For-Profit, 501 © (3) Corporation established in Oakland, California in 2004. We have proudly served as the sponsoring entity to introduce dynamic programs to an increasing number of deserving children.

More Choices, Inc., was established to connect youth with innovative learning experiences and to empower them to succeed in school and in life.

More Choices, Inc., has been an active contributor to the Oakland community as a non-profit organization aimed to promote the quality of life and education for the under served. We offer children, youth, families, and organizations personal development programs designed to build character, embrace community, and enhance lifelong learning.

Our programs included: year-round basketball camps, academic intervention and support resources, the Summer Technology Camp and the newly chartered The First Tee Jr. Golf Program, a golf and life-skills program for youth (ages 7 - 17) in the Oakland Metropolitan area. More Choices will concentrate our efforts now in building The First Tee of Oakland program and chapter.
