California State Horsemen's Association, Region 5

California State Horsemen's Association, Region 5 has programs that are designed to be educational for the benefit of horsemen of every age; to instruct them in the proper care and handling of horses, to teach values of animal husbandry as well as competition, team work and compassion for others; to educate the local government agencies as to the importance and economic impact of the equine industry on their local areas as well as state-wide; to provide scholarships to the young and older horsemen to achieve continuing education in the equine and agricultural field and to provide athletic competition among the horse enthusiast of all principles.

Description:
This corporation is formed for the purpose of sponsoring, cultivating and fostering an interest in horses and horsemanship of all types in which horsemen may be interested throughout the State of California; to give aid and support to every type of activity concerning horses; to assist and encourage the sponsorship of rodeos, horse shows, hunter trials, race meetings, parades and any other activity which will further the general purposes thereof; to assist and encourage the acquisition, building, maintenance and supervision of bridle paths, horseback trails, and the rights of way therefore; to assist and encourage the construction and maintenance of hostels, inns and stables on the several routes thereof; and to do any and all things in furtherance of the interest of horses and horsemen.

History:
Incorporated in 1942, the California State Horsemen's Association comprises twenty geographical regions within three areas (Northern, Central and Southern). We, as Region 5, are in the Central region.
