Interactive Parenting Media
Logo

Our mission is to inform and inspire parents and all who care about children so that every child may be happy, healthy, and thrive. We provide a respectful, inclusive public forum through our interactive radio shows — Childhood Matters and Nuestros Niños — and other media in English and Spanish.

Description:
We are dedicated to anyone who is raising children. We use the media to support parents and providers — radio, TV, newspapers, web sites, newsletters, classes, and seminars. Our hosts are professionals and are experts in their fields. We tackle the following tough issues, and many more:

-Discipline
-Community and domestic violence
-Family stress
-Postpartum depression
-Childhood obesity
-Bullying
-Finding child care
-Autism
-Fatherhood
-Diverse families
-Tantrums

We have been producing radio shows since November of 2002 and all of our previous shows are on our web sites at www.childhoodmatters.org and www.nuestrosninos.com.

History:
Rona Renner (Nurse Rona), Executive Director, started Childhood Matters radio show so that she could reach parents who did not or could not attend classes and who didn't know where to go for resources and information about children. Rona has been a Registered Nurse for 43 years, and is the parent of four and grandmother of two.

After launching the show in English she knew that a show in Spanish was essential, and had the good fortune to find Marisol Muñoz-Kiehne, PhD or "Dra. Marisol" to host Nuestros Niños, starting in November 2003. She is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and a spokesperson in the Latino Community.

We are a unique non-profit and raise all the money to produce the shows and pay the stations that carry them. Most shows are heard live, so we can take calls from our listeners. We choose to air on commercial stations where we reach a more broad and diverse audience than public radio. Our shows are heard throughout the Bay Area, Monterey, and other cities in California, as well as throughout the world on the web.
