Agency Details:
Juvenile Hall Auxiliary
The Juvenile Hall Auxiliary is a non-profit volunteer organization designed to help the at-risk youth in our community. The Juvenile Hall Auxiliary-was founded in 1955 to provide a different kind of support for the disadvantaged youth in the County who are wards of the court including foster care youth.
Description:
The Juvenile Hall Auxiliary is a community sponsored, non-profit volunteer organization. Our purpose is to provide assistance and support to detained minors and dependents who are under the Probation and Social Service Departments. The motto of the auxiliary is “the community cares” and our goal is to encourage troubled juveniles to recognize their self-worth so that they may become productive members of our society. Our young people are our most valuable resource. Help us help them look forward to a positive future. Through your donations you are choosing to make a significant difference in the life of a child and a brighter tomorrow.
History:
August marks 55 years that the Auxiliary has cultivated and enhanced the lives of many youngsters. Dreams of pilots, teachers, business owners, or law enforcement have all been achieved. Numerous children have become productive citizens and are now helping their own families and others. We have helped 1000’s of young people in their attempts at higher education, obtain certifications from different trade schools, provided countless pairs of reading glasses, helped many young men and women have their gang-related tattoos removed so they were able to start their lives over, provided clothing, helped pay for summer camps

This Thrift Store is like no other. All of the proceeds go directly to a wide variety of programs. Real help for real people. With ZERO OVERHEAD we have the luxury of selling everything at a very low price. (I sometimes think we give away more than we sell.) Helping people in need gives me an appreciation of how fortunate I am. posted by Ruthy on April 6, 2007 |
