AnewAmerica Community Corporation

Established in 1999, AnewAmerica Community Corporation is a 501(c) (3) community-based nonprofit organization, committed to advancing the long-term economic empowerment of new Americans—immigrants, refugees, new citizens. Our Women’s Business Center (WBC) is a certified partner of the United States Small Business Administration, empowering women entrepreneurs and their families to develop successful businesses and achieve financial sustainability. Our entrepreneurs come from over fifty countries throughout nine Bay Area counties.

By linking business development with asset building and social responsibility as an anti-poverty strategy, our incubation model responds to the complex needs of new Americans in gaining their economic independence, achieving a better standard of living and ending their disenfranchisement.
AnewAmerica offers the only program in the nation that provides immigrant entrepreneurs up to three years of support in business planning, business training, business coaching, matched savings, financial management, and access to markets and capital, all within a framework of social responsibility.

Entrepreneurs receive training at Holy Names University in Oakland Hills and earn a certificate in Business Planning. After three years of participation in our incubator, women and their families expand their business, purchase their first home, increase their net worth, create jobs and give back to the community by becoming volunteers, philanthropists and social activists.
New American entrepreneurs are building socially responsible businesses and stronger communities. Their integration and contribution to America’s economic, social and cultural growth is made possible thanks to the support of our programs by corporations, foundations, individuals and the public sector.

Description:
BUSINESS INCUBATION. AnewAmerica helps families find self-employment by providing business training, business coaching and resources to grow or expand a business. In our training, entrepreneurs gain opportunities to devote their time, energy and love towards achieving their business goals and dreams. Our program provides structure, space and support for people to focus on their plans that lead to action.

AnewAmerica helps entrepreneurs plan long-term for business growth and sustainability. We work with clients to build a more competitive business by creating concept, model and ideas—not just selling the product or service. Students learn core skills to operate a business, such as marketing, sales, cash flow, pricing, packaging, promotion, management and much more.

ASSET BUILDING. Entrepreneurs learn to create long-term assets and investment for their families. Financial literacy topics include: savings strategies and incentives, budgeting / money management, homeownership and retirement planning.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. We believe in the triple bottom line: the people, planet and profit for economic, social and environmental justice. We work with entrepreneurs to connect their businesses to people, their community and the world.

We foster entrepreneurship and leadership for community development, advocacy and civic responsibility. The businesses we promote incorporate green practices to reduce environmental waste, sustain natural resources and create a healthier work place.

History:
AnewAmerica Community Corporation was founded in 1999 by leaders representing immigrants and community development advocates who saw a continuing lack of integrated job creation, asset development, and empowerment strategies for low-income new Americans living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
