Shepherd's Gate

Shepherd's Gate is a non-profit, Christ centered program that offers services and housing for battered and homeless women and children.

Description:
Shepherd's Gate has 3 shelter locations, one in Livermore, one in Brentwood & one in Costa Rica.
The Livermore campus provides shelter for up to 85 women and children. The Brentwood & Costa Rica shelters can accommodate up to 25 women and children each.

We have a Thrift Store in Livermore(1362 Railroad Ave), which is also our donations drop-off site.

We are supported 100% by donations. We receive no government or state funding. We rely heavily on volunteers to help with the many day to day operations and tasks that the ministry requires. Volunteer opportunities that are available are: child care, tutoring, facility maintenance, and administrative support. You must be 18 years of age to volunteer.

We provide long term programs & housing (up to 18 months), individual case management, 12 Step Recovery programs, medical services, professional counseling, parenting & basic life skills training, anger management/conflict resolution, education, job training and job placement, exercise/nutritional programs, child care for children in the program, Bible studies, financial management & educational scholarships/GED classes.

History:
Shepherd's Gate was founded in 1984 by Alice Ann Cantelow. More than 9,300 women and children have passed through the doors of Shepherd's Gate with a success rate of over 90%. Through the years, Shepherd's Gate Shelters have provided countless meals, and Holiday food baskets & gifts to needy individuals, and thousands of pieces of clothing & furniture to those in need.

The Shepherd's Gate Thrift Store in Livermore helps us provide training and job opportunities for our residents, as well as providing financial income through the donations we receive and sell. This is a vital part of helping to support the operational costs of the ministry and enables us to provide the continued support and services needed for the women and children. Please see the volunteer opportunities for the Thrift Store on the Shepherd's Gate Thrift Store listing.
