Friendly Visiting Program
Senior Services Foundation was formed for the purpose of improving the quality of life for seniors in central Alameda County. Our mission is to identify the needs of the seniors, advocating on the behalf of seniors, and developing services for seniors. We do this by providing volunteer visitors who visit weekly and provide companionship and links to community resources.
Description:
We recruit and train volunteers to visit with isolated seniors in their homes. Volunteers are asked to visit in person and call a couple of times weekly. Visitors also observe their seniors and link them to resources as needed. Our volunteers reduce the isolation of our elders.
History:
Formed in 2000 Senior Services Foundation has expanded its service area from the City of San Leandro to include Hayward, Castro Valley and San Lorenzo. We now provide a newsletter and disaster preparedness information to our seniors as well as visitors.
