Rainbow Learning Program is dedicated to providing interesting activities for older adults who have physical or mental frailty. It is our goal to help elders improve or maintain their physical and mental fitness and increase their vitality and ability to interact with others in their daily lives.
Description:
Rainbow Learning Program is designed to provide activities for frail older adults and to give their caregivers respite. Activities to improve and maintain mental and physical abilities include exercise, arts and crafts, current events, memory stimulating games, fellowship and socialization activities and lunch. Volunteers assist with all activities and work under the guidance of a trained leader. The Program meets each Monday from 10:00 am-1:00 pm in the Multi-use Room of Loma Vista Adult Center, 1266 San Carlos Ave. in Concord. Participants and volunteers bring their own lunch. Dessert and beverages provided. current fee is $36 for 12 weeks (9/14/09-12/7/09) effective Jan. 11, 2009, fee will increase to $72 for period of 1/11-3/29/09.
History:
Rainbow has been providing respite care for frail elders more than 20 years. Caregivers are welcome to participate. We are currently housed at Loma Vista Adult Center in Concord where a team of volunteers assist the lead teacher to provide quality activities for the elders. We depend on dedicated volunteers to help us provide this free service to the community.
