Senior Adult Activity Center
The Senior Adult Activity Center provides community, education in life planning skills, personal support, activities and good nutrition to West County adults who are 55 years of age or older.
Description:
The Senior Adult Activity Center, a program of West Contra Costa Adult Education, is for people 55 years of age or older. They meet every Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Richmond. Older adults are provided with a variety of activities from crafts and oil painting to seated exercise and hula lessons, informative speakers on many interesting topics, blood pressure checks, and occasional celebrations. A delicious, inexpensive ($3-$4) lunch is provided.
History:
The Senior Adult Activity Center was first established 40 years ago by the Richmond Adult School to fill a need in the community for seniors to meet, learn, engage in activities and share a noon-time meal together. The director of the program is a credentialed teacher in older adult education.
