Are you a compassionate, caring individual who is concerned about the welfare of the elderly? LIFE ElderCare is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing direct service programs - Meals on Wheels, Friendly Visitors, VIP Rides, and Falls Prevention, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, supporting daily well-being, and enabling independent living for as long as safely possible on behalf of frail, home-bound seniors living in Fremont, Newark and Union City. We are looking for new board members to join our board and help us fulfill our mission. Must be able to attend semi-monthly meetings (6:00 - 8:00 p.m.).

| Board Member Responsibilities:: |
|
- Commit to the role of an active Board Member
- Have a clear focus on common goals and purposes through regular evaluation of LIFE ElderCare mission and goals
- Understand and respect each other through formal & informal board interaction
- Have training in constructive problem solving & team building
- Establish structure and process (through board agreement) for board actions
- Regularly attend board meetings
- Keep in touch and informed when absences are unavoidable
- Participate in board committees
- Participate in and attend all events
- Become knowledgeable of the organization’s financial position
- Obtain knowledge of organization’s structure and work
- Accompany a volunteer in all services at least once yearly
- Make an individual annual contribution
- Solicit donations from individuals, organizations or businesses
- Participate in fundraisers
- Remember opportunities to promote services of LIFE ElderCare are ever-present
- Present LIFE ElderCare in our individual organizational situations through formal and informal means
- Participate in presentations to community organizations by speaking or accompanying executive director to show board support.
- Refrain from making special requests of staff and respect the Executive Director’s supervisory position with all staff.
- Communicate issues about the board or agency to the board president.
- Understand and honor the separation of roles of the Board and the Executive Director
