Do you like cooking? Do you like working with people?
Uhuru Foods needs volunteers on Saturdays at the Grand Lake Farmer's Market where we prepare and sell omelette platters, scrambled egg platters and breakfast wraps at this wonderful community farmer's market. We are part of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement supporting solidarity from the white community and other potential allies to support justice for Oscar Grant and all the victims of police violence and an end to the policy of police containment of the African community.

Every Saturday, Volunteers come to help set up our booth from 7 to 9am or they come to help us cook and sell between the hours of 9am and 2pm or break down our booth from 2-3:30pm. All help is appreciated and comes with a delicious breakfast.

We are a fundraiser for the campaigns for justice led by the Uhuru Movement. Uhuru means freedom in Swahili and the Uhuru Movement leads programs led by black people in the U.S. and throughout the African world from Oakland to Sierra Leone and South Africa.

Many sectors of our community who see Africa and African peoples' futures critical to the future of the planet participate in the fundraisers of Uhuru Foods .

No experience is necessary to help at our booth. We will train you in the food prep, cooking or working with the customers. Got food experience? Bring it with you.
