Volunteer Opportunity Details:

If you enjoy talking with, listening to, and solving problems for older and elderly people, this will be fun for you! The volunteer will represent the Adult Day Services Network of Contra Costa at periodic community resource fairs in several areas of the county: most occur between April and July and September through October. Most community resource fairs occur during the weekdays; however, occasionally take place on a weekend. The volunteer will talk with seniors and family members about the benefits of attending adult day social and health care programs for frail seniors, those with dementia, and disabled adults. The volunteer will help provide resource documents and answer questions. Training is provided.

A good background in services for elderly is helpful. Must be congenial and able to communicate comfortably with older people. Will be required to transport, set up, and take down the presentation board and resource materials for each event. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is essential. Will be standing much of the time during the 3-5 hour event.
