Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on November 3, 2009 |
We meet at 9 a.m. on the first and third Wednesday mornings of each month to do tasks related to habitat restoration. On a particular day, we might be weeding in an area we have planted or intend to plant, monitoring and maintenance of previous plantings, watering plants or helping to measure changes in our open space. We will work in Walnut Creek's Open Space areas and in the Nature Area in Heather Farm Park. The location will vary depending on the day's activity. We usually start at 9am and work until 11:30am. If you think you might be interested in working in our Wednesday group, send us an email (billh@wcosf.org) to get on our email list. Before each work day, we will send an email describing what we will be doing and where we will meet. There is no obligation to attend all the events. You may come when it fits your schedule and the day's work suits you.
We will supply any tools needed for the day's tasks and supply training at the beginning of the session. We will be working outdoors for about 2.5 hours. We will be standing for much of the time. Some activities require walking at total of 1-2 miles.
