Description:
Word of Hope Ministries, Inc., WOHM, is a faith-based, 501(C)(3) Nonprofit community Ministry founded by Dr. C.H. McClelland who is the pastor of the Holy Cathedral Church of God in Christ. The Word of Hope was established at its current location, 2677 N. 40th Street in Milwaukee Wisconsin in May 1996. The main objective of the Word of Hope is to "Effect a social transformation so that lives are spiritually empowered and enlightened."
Though the main purpose is to provide spiritually empowerment, Word of Hope realizes that its message is more readily accepted when it takes an active role in bringing social and economic change to the residents of Sherman Park, and its surrounding communities. Since its establishment in 1996, WOHM has initiated all its Social Services, Educational and Recreational programming under its Family Resource and Technology Center. For the past 10 years, WOHM have provided more than 14,000 community residents with the resources that will help them improve their quality of life. Specifically, WOHM has been successful in using a wholistic approach by providing community members with options and programs designed to encourage their overall development. The populations that are targeted to receive these services are often disenfranchised community members who lack adequate job, or educational skills to improve the quality of life for themselves and/or their families. In an effort to enhance their lives, WOHM has developed 8 areas of programming which are: 1) Employment 2) ATODA 3) Health Care 4) Mentoring 5) Social Service 6) Prison Re-entry 7) GED Preparation and Children's Academic Enrichment 8) Computer Training.
