The Park People Of Milwaukee County
"Citizen Stewardship of Milwaukee County Parks." Restore natural areas of county parks to the highest possible quality , with volunteer citizens and their input. To continue to have natural areas in Milwaukee County populated with native plants for future generations to learn and appreciate.
Description:
We are a small non-profit office in Milwaukee that is dedicated to keeping the parks clean.“Weed-Out!” is a successful program that has been working in the area parks since 1996. What do we do? We target Milwaukee county parks that have been taken over by invasive species such as, Buckthorn, Honeysuckle and Garlic Mustard. We clear out the areas affected by pulling the weeds or cutting down the small trees with hand saws. This program allows our dedicated volunteers to provide "hands-on" contributions for the enhancement of the Milwaukee County Parks. I assure you it is more than pulling weeds. That is something that I must stress. The volunteers are surrounded by positive people that live and work in our community. Our volunteers truly care about our city, our environment and enjoy teaching and working with youth.
