The mission of Sunset Playhouse is to provide high quality theatrical entertainment to the general public.
Description:
Established in 1960, Sunset Playhouse offers educational and personal growth opportunities for its members, patrons, volunteers, and the community at large while maintaining a strong commitment to the preservation and appreciation of theatre.
In 1960, Sunset Playhouse constructed its own 303 seat theatre, the first in the state to be built by a volunteer group. Sunset maintains professional standards while continuing to be community-based, independent, and volunteer-driven. Sunset is one of the few arts organizations nationally that has been able to cover operational costs through tickets sales. Sunset Playhouse boasts an 80% attendance record and serves close to 42,000 patrons from southeastern Wisconsin each season.
Sunset Playhouse offers a rich environment for members of the community to learn about the different aspects of theatre, including acting, set construction, lighting, directing, and stage managing. Sunset has been a training ground for many nationally known professional actors and technicians.
