As of October 2008, we need volunteers for our Monday / Wednesday Homework Club program. WEDNESDAY is a HIGH NEED DAY! Please become an Academic Mentor in our growing and evolving academic support and tutoring program, The Homework Club. The 15-year-old initiative is designed to support and encourage academic success with students grades 1st through 6th. Academic Mentors meet with students a minimum of once per week on Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Together, motivated students and committed tutors complete homework assignments, work on academic-need areas, take part in our new literacy program (sponsored by St. Anskar's Episcopal Church) and participate in a variety of educational and enrichment activities. Number of Volunteers: 75 - 100 volunteers each semester (IMMEDIATE NEED FOR WEDNESDAY VOLUNTEERS)
Academic Mentors must complete a Volunteer Interest Form and attend an orientation prior to beginning service. See website for orientation schedule, www.ongkids.org. This opportunity is sponsored by: Our Next Generation, Inc.
