Positively enhance visitor experiences by demonstrating models/artifacts and informing visitors about one window or diorama. Here, Milwaukee Public Museum visitors can interact with the exhibit. The volunteer will accurately interpret the exhibit and artifacts as described in the script. Engage visitors in interactive questions, adjusting the content to the age of your audience. Volunteers record their hours of service and schedule themselves for future shifts in the volunteer lounge.

Volunteer should be welcoming and engaging. They must be willing to learn accurate content about the exhibit and artifacts used. Current windows/dioramas are (1) the general store in Streets of Old Milwaukee, (2) the torosaur in Third Planet, (3) the bison hung on 2nd floor, and (4) Guatemalan Marketplace on 3rd floor. All stations are scripted and there are two to four artifacts in a canvas bag for the volunteer to use. APPLICATION: All prospective volunteers are required to mail in volunteer paperwork (three documents at www.mpm.edu) at least two weeks in advance to the interview. They should be available for an interview Monday-Thursday 10am-5pm (will be contacted for specific appointment). TRAINING: The script of your choice will be emailed to you; you'd need to study it prior to your training. Led by an experienced docent, the initial training session will respond to your questions about the script, explain the artifacts, and describe the process of hot-to-access the artifact bags stored in the Education Department. DRESS CODE: Business casual. A red jacket will be provided.

 The museum is located at NE corner of Wells & James Lovell (7th Steet). MacArthur Square parking is adjacent to the museum with a James Lovell entrance. There's a museum entrance inside the parking structure. $5 reduced parking for volunteers with validation.

Additional Information
The time commitment expected of a volunteer
Four hour shifts, twelve shifts per year. This is a seven-day per week opportunity. Notify the Volunteer Coordinator if absent for a scheduled shift.
