Direct activities, such as drama, fund raising, recreation, community service, and promotion for members of a youth development program. Members learn through involvement in the activity. Project Leaders are supported with variety of educational curriculum such as educational literature, software, and workbooks which help provide guidance for teaching the subject to youth. The 4-H Offices offer ongoing project trainings to demonstrate the curriculum for leaders and mentor ship from 4-H staff. Volunteers also receive a bimonthly newsletter to stay update about ongoing 4-H events and meetings in Milwaukee County. In 4-H, most volunteers lead projects for a local year-round club or short-term 4-H groups. But there are many ways that volunteers get involved. Be an activity volunteers and help make a difference in the lives of young people.
All adult volunteers are required to complete the Youth Protection Process. The Youth Protection Process consists of four steps: -Attend a volunteer training (2.5 hour commitment) -Sign a list of volunteer behavior guidelines -Authorize a confidential records check through the Department of Justice. -Fill out two forms: Adult Volunteer Application (1st) and Adult Enrollment Form (2nd) Note: the Adult Volunteer Application gives us permission to conduct the confidential records check. These four steps complete the 4-H volunteer certification process. Four-H has prided itself in being a proactive youth-serving organization with an excellent reputation of providing a healthy and safe environment for its members. This is one more step to assure the quality of the program. The 4-H Program Coordinator conducts youth protection trainings on a bi-monthly basis or as needed.
