Become a friend to an elderly resident visiting, chatting, playing cards & other games, reading and writing letters, taking strolls around the campus or snacking in the cafe. Some activities include: 1:1 visits with resident(s), read to resident(s) (books, mail, newspaper, magazine, etc.), write letters for resident(s), assist resident(s) to learn computer skills, attend outings with program staff to assist resident on a 1:1 basis (grocery, Starlight, museum, etc.), escort resident(s) in house to Uhlmann library, Sarah’s Salon, leisure programs, therapy, art gallery and visit, provide 1:1 assistance at group programs (escort, assist residents), escort resident(s) outside to porch or around grounds for visits, visit about synagogue news/community events, offer to help organize the items on their bulletin board, go out to the garden in the back of the facility, visit the Gift Shop. Volunteers must have a sociable personality and show compassion toward elderly. He/She must also have a timely and helpful personality. This opportunity is sponsored by: Village Shalom
