Military Family FIRST is a volunteer organization that links together national services, community organizations, military units, local citizens, volunteers, and families for the common goal of supporting service members and their families.

Description:
Military Family FIRST strives to provide information, readiness, support, and training to all military families before, during, and after deployments. Family FIRST works in conjunction with local military units and leadership to address military family issues and enhance the overall well-being of local military members and their families.

Family FIRST volunteers assist in providing hospitality rooms to servicemembers and their families before deployments and at welcome home events. Volunteers also help with Family days, holiday parties, monthly family coffees, and special events. Family FIRST provides various trainings, briefings, and classes for military families to help them adjust to the military lifestyle and/or prepare for deployments.

Family FIRST volunteers work to establish community resources and networks to assist military families. Volunteers also assist with the "Hearts Apart" family support during deployments, sending care packages to deployed troops, and conducting fundraisers and donation drives as needed.

History:
Military Family FIRST began in 2003 in response to the "unofficial" needs of 110th Fighter Wing military members and their families. Family FIRST volunteers started with small fundraisers and a donation drive to send care packages to deployed troops. Family FIRST then expanded to providing services and support to families during deployments, and planning special events for military families. Currently, volunteers assist families from all branches of service.
