Mission Statement: To inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Description:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Battle Creek serves youth ages 6-18. Programs are carefully designed to support the achievement of the Youth Development Outcomes for our young people leaving our Clubs at 18. These outcomes are:

  • Positive self-identity
  • Educational, employment, social, emotional &
cultural competencies
  • Community and civic involvement
  • Health & well being
  • A moral compass

To achieve these outcomes, our programs are divided into the following five areas as listed below:

  • Character and Leadership
Empowers youth to support their Club and community, sustain relationships, develop positive self-image, and respect other cultures

  • Education and Career
Enables youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, embrace technology and learning and explore career options

  • Health and Life Skills
Encourages youth to engage in positive behaviors, nurture their well-being, set goals and live healthy and positive lives

  • The Arts
Cultivates creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of various visual, performing, and creative art forms

  • Sports, Fitness, and Recreation
Develops fitness, positive use of leisure time, stress management, social skills, teamwork and appreciation for the environment

History:
The Boys and Girls Club of Battle Creek opened in November of 2006. It had an initial membership of 106 its opening day and quickly grew to a membership of 952 by March of 2007. The Club serves youth ages
6-18. The Clubs normal operating hours are from 3:00-8:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with occasional special events on Saturdays. The Club provides programs for younger kids, middle school kids, and high school kids. Summer hours are 11am - 6pm Monday through Friday.
