Our mission is to connect people with autism to community and it's resources and opportunities through advocacy, public awareness, education and research.
Description:
We provide speakers and workshops to people who live with or work with people with autism. We provide social opportunities to people to network and share experiences. We have one major fundraiser in April of every year, our Walk About, Talk About Autism in Portage, MI at the Celery Flats. We have a lot of support from the community at large.
History:
Our nonprofit was started in 1982 by some parents in Battle Creek and Kalamazoo who had children with autism and didn't know where to go or what to do about issues they faced. So these parents started the Autism Society of Kalamazoo/Battle Creek as a way to draw out others with similar circumstances and to give support.
