URBAN LEAGUE OF BATTLE CREEK

Change a Life
One person, one family, one neighborhood at a time

Our Programs

The Urban League’s “Family Focus” programs and services reach hundreds of persons and families each month in the greater Battle Creek Area. Our local programs include:

Future Force … guides high school students through a four-year
commitment that enhances leadership, academic, social and life skills. Based on required grade point averages and test scores, and through successful completion of the program, the youth earn a four year scholarship at Western Michigan University.

Sojourner Truth Girls Academy ... targets minority females and prepares them through gender specific activities which address positive self worth, school success and career preparation.

Restoration... is designed specifically for young minority males to build leadership skills, personal responsibility and community accountability.

Youth Leadership Camp… is an eight week summer program designed around four key components areas; education, leadership development, employment/entrepreneurial skills and community service.

Focus Academy … is a private school setting to work with adjudicated minors as a result of having engaged in delinquent behaviors and/or having been expelled from the public school system as a result of at-risk behaviors. The anticipated outcome is that by integrating behavioral health care into the learning process, youth can have the opportunity for a successful educational experience and decrease the obstacles and challenges which can prevent them from becoming productive members of the community.
