Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on October 2, 2009 |
Road to Recovery is an American Cancer Society service program that provides transportation for cancer patients to their treatments and home again. Transportation is provided according to the needs and available resources in the community. 25% of cancer patients choose not to even start cancer treatment because they do not think they will be able to get there! We NEED volunteers very badly because a lot of patients in your community are missing their life saving treatments because of the lack of transportation. American Cancer Society, Battle Creek Health Systems and Sunshine Toyota have partnered to provide a car for transportation. Sunshine Toyota generously donated a Toyota Camrey to ACS and BCHS, the gas and maintenance are provided by BCHS. You would only have to use your own vehicle if you wanted to.
Volunteers must: -Own a safe and reliable vehicle -Have a current, valid driver's license -Have proof of adequate automobile insurance -Have a good driving record -Attend Road to Recovery volunteer training - The training is only an hour
This opportunity is sponsored by: American Cancer Society -Southwest Michigan
