Community BarnRaising: Transform the Dog Park
HandsOn Battle Creek is now seeking volunteers for its second Community BarnRaising project of 2009. Community BarnRaising is a one day volunteer opportunity, whereby the community comes together at the same time, in the same place, to achieve a specific goal. On Saturday, June 13th, the goal is to transform the Humane Society's Dog Park into a great area for local residents to come and enjoy the great outdoors with their pet!
The Humane Society of South Central Michigan believes in the protection of animals from suffering and cruelty, providing safe and responsible care for unwanted or abused companion animals, and enhancing the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and foster care. The Watkins Road shelter also known as "The Animal House," cares for up to 100 animals a day and adopts out more than 500 animals a year. The Humane Society's service area includes all of Calhoun County and parts of Kalamazoo, Barry and Branch counties where countless area residents use the Society's animal care, adoption and education programs each year.
Join HandsOn Battle Creek at the Humane Society of South Central Michigan on Saturday, June13th from 9:00 a.m.-Noon. Volunteers will be making over the Dog Park by cleaning up the walking trail, building benches and arbors, and sprucing up the area with many different plants, flowers, and landscaping.
Individuals, families and groups are invited to join in this exciting Community BarnRaising event. If you are interested in volunteering, please go online and register for the event at www.handsonbc.org, or call 269-966-4189. We look forward to your participation as we build a better Battle Creek through volunteerism.
