The Sutherlin Stampede Association Inc
We are a Non-Profit Corporation (501c (3)) that is staffed by volunteers and supported by local sponsors and are dedicated to supporting youth, education and community activities.
Description:
This organization organizes 4-H Group events and an annual FREE Rodeo. Since becoming a free rodeo ten years ago, the Sutherlin Stampede Rodeo has earned a reputation as a wonderful family event. With the donation of a canned food item, all spectators enter free. Last year we had an estimated 4,000 spectators for the two day event and we collected over 3,500 pounds of food from them. All the canned food items were donated to the Sutherlin-Oakland Food Pantry.
History:
The Sutherlin Stampede Rodeo was created in 1991 to provide activities for youth and the community through rodeo participation and equestrian activities. The Sutherlin Stampede Rodeo, The Blackberry Festival, and the old Timber Days Committee (now gone) purchased the festival grounds property and donated it to the City of Sutherlin for use in numerous local activities and celebrations. In 1997 we became a FREE Rodeo. With the donation of a canned food item, all spectators enter FREE! We collect over 3000 pounds of food each year and donate those items to the Sutherlin-Oakland Food Pantry. We promote youth involvement by having a junior and senior queen and events for youth at our rodeo. Our senior queen receives a $1000 college scholarship to further her education.
