Description:
The Learning Center is Washington Counties Early Intervention and Early Head Start Program.

To support the role of parents as the primary educators of their children. To Increase each parents understanding of their child's development through observation. To enhance each parents capacity to be responsive to their child's needs.

History:
We provide Early Intervention to at least 300 families at a time in Washington County. Early Intervention is for children age birth to 3 years, with any kind of developmental delay or who have a condition strongly linked with developmental delay such as Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy or Extreme Prematurity. We have a team that includes Nurses, Special Educators, Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapists.
The Early Head Start Program works with 60 families at a time. It serves pregnant women and children ages birth to three. It is a comprehensive family development program that promotes the physical, cognitive, social emotional growth of infants and toddlers while assisting their parents in achieving self sufficiency.The Learninig Center has been helping families for the past 10 years.
