People reentering society from long-term incarceration, homelessness, abuse, and the military are in need of mentors to aid them in making the transition. Duties specific to mentors of prisoners: Befriend an inmate 2-3 months before leaving prison and then, when the prisoner is released, be a mentor to him or her by helping direct the person as they gain education, employment, housing, transportation, etc. Weekly meeting will be held with all mentors to discuss and exchange resources.
Training and information is available. Mentors must refrain from drugs, alcohol, smoking, and swearing while mentoring. For more information visit resourcenreentrycenter.com or call the Volunteer Center at 674-5757
