WASHINGTON COUNTY YOUTH COURT

The Washington County Youth Court is a unique way to help motivate youth guilty of minor and first time charges to learn to be a part of the community through service and mentoring. The process is unique in that it focuses on "restorative" justice rather than "punitive justice." Those charged must plead guilty and accept the terms of the youth court. Those participate will have the opportunity to have charges taken off the records.

There is a constant need for youth panel members between the ages of 14-18. Youth Court meets weekly on Mondays at 4:00 PM. The panel members will be afforded different types of opportunities ranging from clerk, to bailiff, to senior judge. One of the best aspects of being on the youth panel is the opportunity to be a mentor. You befriend and assist those in need. You will answer questions, give encouragement, and maybe even help with community service.

We hope you will join us!
