Pregnancy Support Connection
"Ensuring safe and healthy babies through education, support and resources”
Description:
Our pregnancy support services provide prenatal counseling and coordination of care to women experiencing a crisis pregnancy. Young women are enrolled in a structured Case Management program where there are set standards for personal responsibility and accountability. They work closely with their Case Manager to develop goals that will promote self – sufficiency and are individually coached to learn appropriate life skills. They receive support and education to ensure delivery of a healthy baby and positive parenting. Adoption counseling and referrals are available to any woman exploring this decision. The Pregnancy Support Connection collaborates with the UW Extension, Healthy Families, La Casa de Esperanza, Waukesha Health Department and Parent’s Place to provide continuation of care. All of these services are also available to Spanish speaking women. Our Childbirth Education Program is a specialized program that provides participants with critical information, education, and guidance on the labor and delivery process, breathing and relaxation techniques as well as infant care. The classes are offered to young, pregnant women, young fathers-to-be and other support people in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties. Individual sessions are also available for those with pregnancy complications or those who are considering placing a child for adoption. The Linden Cherish Place (TLC) is a home for pregnant and parenting women. This transitional living program in Waukesha, is a home for young mothers and their children who find themselves homeless or currently living in unfit or unsafe living conditions. TLC is available for women who are between the ages of 18 and 21. Residents of TLC are expected to attend school or job training while benefiting from the continuous support, mentoring and guidance of a trained case manager. Residents are responsible for a portion of their rent and utility costs thus allowing them to put their budgeting skills to work. Upon completion of the program, residents have the option to move into a transitional living apartment for an additional 2 years. This program offers much of the same support as the home except residents have their own apartment. Independent living allows for our young families to take the life skills learned in our communal transitional living program and put them to daily use while still receiving case management.
