The mission of Family Service of Waukesha is to improve the quality of individual, family and community life in Waukesha County.

Description:
Services at Family Service of Waukesha are carried out through the following major programs: Mental Health Counseling which addresses anxiety, depression, life adjustment problems, the effects addictions or other chronic disorders on family functioning. Children’s Place specializes in treating children who have experienced trauma. The Center for the Prevention of Family Violence, designed to break the cycle of family violence with people who are abusive in their relationships. The C.A.R.E. Center, a multi-agency collaboration that serves child victims of abuse by providing forensic interviews, medical exams and therapy under one roof. The Cooperative Parenting Program, assists divorced and separated parents to build business like relationships that are focused on the best interest of children, and Consumer Credit Counseling Service, helps families avoid bankruptcy and credit problems by creating debt management plans.

History:
In 1964 the only mental health services that were available in the county were provided by the County Department of Human Services. A group of community leaders, led by Judge Clair Voss, organized and incorporated Family Service of Waukesha so that additional mental health treatment resources would be available for Waukesha County residents. Family Service of Milwaukee assisted in the early organization and staffing of the office in Waukesha.
Over the past 44 years Family Service of Waukesha has added quality programs that relate to the agency mission and respond to the needs of the community.
