Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Sponsor or "adopt" a family for Christmas and help make the holidays a special time for a financially challenged family in Waukesha County.

Families who apply to receive Christmas gift assistance are matched with families, groups and individuals who sponsor or "adopt" them for Christmas gifts. Sponsors tell us about what size and make up of family they are interested and able to sponsor and we use that information to best match them with a family from our clientele.

Once the match is completed you will be provided with an information sheet on the family including their first names, ages, genders and gift suggestions (provided by the parents). You will also be provided with additional information about the program and how items should be returned. Sponsors then go out and purchase gift items for the family using this information. We do ask that sponsors provide each child (ages 0 through senior in high school) with gifts of a minimum total value of $50 per child to ensure equality in what is provided to all of our clients. All the items need to be bagged or boxed together unwrapped and labeled with the family's number and dropped off at The Salvation Army.
