Please help us control invasive plants that threaten our natural lands! Volunteer work days have been scheduled on the last Saturday of several months to tackle the invasive species at Retzer Nature Center. Specific projects have been identified for each Saturday, including removal of Garlic Mustard, Dame's Rocket, Sweet Clover, Burdock, Queen Anne's Lace, Knapweed, Musk Thistle, Bull Thistle, Teasel, Honeysuckle, and Buckthorn. Two sessions are scheduled for each Saturday: 9:00 am to Noon OR 1:00 to 4:00 pm. We can accommodate up to 25 people in each session. Sessions are led by Retzer Nature Center and Waukesha County Park System staff. Pre-registration is required at least one week before scheduled date. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for them. Must be able to physical yard/maintenance work and be able to walk on unstable terrain. Please wear work gloves, proper footwear (no sandals please) and dress appropriately for weather conditions.
