Apeiron Institute For Sustainable Living
The vision of the Apeiron Institute For Sustainable Living is to create a world that protects, preserves and ensures the prosperity of the earth and the various forms of life that inhabit it. Our mission is to create ecologically healthy communities by bringing sustainable living practices from around the world to Southeastern New England. We support and facilitate projects, ideas and practices that advocate for environmentally friendly building, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and business practices and integration of sustainability into all aspects of society.
Description:
OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES: The Apeiron Institute believes that: • Sustainability should be an integral part of all decisions our society makes. • An awareness of the interconnectedness of all life combined with a long term, global perspective, is essential for ensuring a sustainable future. • Sustainable communities should support economic, environmental, physical and spiritual well-being. • Our organization must model sustainability in all its activities through efforts such as conservation, recycling, and use of environmentally sound technologies.
History:
Founded in 1994, the Apeiron Institute has been working through education, outreach, and advocacy to make RI a more sustainable state. We offer education programs to people of all ages, as well as host the annual RI Sustainable Living Festival & Clean Energy Expo, now in it's seventh year. We also operate an Environmental Education Center in Coventry that showcases over 50 different environmental building techniques, products, and technologies.
