Easter Seals Rhode Island
Easter Seals provides exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities.
Description:
Easter Seals has been helping individuals with disabilities and special needs, and their families, live better lives for 85 years. Whether helping someone improve physical mobility, return to work or simply gain greater independence for everyday living, Easter Seals offers a variety of services to help people with disabilities address life's challenges and achieve personal goals. Easter Seals Rhode Island provides therapy to children with developmental delays caused by premature birth, cerebral malformations, chromosomal disorders and other factors that influence a child’s development. A few examples of the types of diagnosis that affect our children include cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and hearing loss. We have a highly trained staff offering services that include special education, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language pathology. In addition, we have a nurse on staff that provides developmental monitoring as well as screening and referral services.
History:
In March 2006, Easter Seals Rhode Island began providing early intervention services statewide to children with disabilities and their families. Since that time, we have served over 550 families and we currently provide assistance to 200 children from birth to age three. Rhode Island children and their families receive early intervention services from Easter Seals at no cost. Given our mission to provide these essential services to all families, we provide many more services than what we are reimbursed for through the state contract we currently have with the state of Rhode Island.
