Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership provides lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential. We plan an weekend long annual seminar for RI high school sophomores.

Description:
Activities include student recruiting, fundraising, alumni events, event planning, program development, and volunteering for a weekend long seminar each May/June. We host 40 students annually and the program consists of a focus on volunteerism, diversity, innovative thinking, and community partnership. We have a small team of volunteers at the local level.

History:
Now approaching its 50th year of service, Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) lets young people make a difference and become positive catalysts for change — in the home, in the school, in the workplace and in the community. As the nation's foremost youth leadership development organization and with more than 345,000 alumni, HOBY is respected worldwide.

Today, HOBY reaches out around the world with leadership seminars held at 70 locations across the country and HOBY-style programs in Canada, Mexico, Israel, China, Taiwan, Korea, Bolivia, and Argentina.

More than 4,000 volunteers run HOBY’s programs with community leaders, business executives, educators and parents involved in every seminar. HOBY is proud to have cooperating organization associations with leading service groups including Lions Clubs International and Optimist International. The support of local Kiwanis and General Federation of Women’s Clubs has also been beneficial.
