Volunteers In Providence Schools
VIPS' mission is to provide Providence public school students with the educational support services and personalized help they need to grow academically; while advancing towards grade level achievement. VIPS' vision is that all Providence public school students have an equal chance at academic success.
Description:
VIPS accomplishes our goals through general academic support and intensive literacy programs for students attending Providence public schools. VIPS manages these initiatives by mobilizing groups of well trained and screened community volunteers and leveraging collaborations with other nonprofits, businesses and universities to make a difference in our students' lives.
History:
VIPS is the oldest and largest non-profit educational support organization dedicated to the academic success of our public schools students. Founded in 1963, VIPS has a long history of quickly responding to the academic needs of Providence public school students through the use of volunteers as individualized academic support.
