Make-A-Wish Foundation, Rhode Island Regional Office
We grant the wishes of children from the ages 2.5 to 18 with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
Description:
We grant wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions with the help of volunteers and donations. We grant wishes with a 4 step process: referring a child, determining medical eligibility, deciding on a wish, and granting the wish. We also conduct fundraising events to enable us to continue this mission. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the foundation. Our volunteers are unselfishly dedicated to bringing Hope, Strength, and Joy to Rhode Island children with life-threatening conditions. It enriches their lives as well as the childrens.
History:
It all started with a 7 year old boy from Arizona named Chris who was battling leukemia and had a wish to be a police officer. A group of volunteers and police officers all came together and helped his dream come true, making Chris the first honorary patrolman in Arizona history. This experience has since served as inspiration for the largest wish-granting organization in the world.
