Capital City Community Centers

Capital City Community Centers is a non-profit social service agency serving low income families in Providence and Woonsocket. Our objective is to assist these families in developing the skills necessary to live independent lives free of the stigma of public support.

Description:
Capital City Community Centers is a social service agency serving individuals and families in Providence and throughout the state of Rhode Island. Capital City Community Centers began in 1945 as the Smith Hill Girls Club and later became the Smith Hill Center. In 2000, the agency changed its name to reflect the work that was being done in neighborhoods throughout Providence and beyond. The agency currently operates six centers which meet the needs of families and individuals in neighborhoods throughout Providence, Woonsocket and Lincoln. Capital City Community Centers works with people in two distinct groups, single parent families with young children and low income Providence seniors--to develop skills needed to gain and maintain independence and to live healthy, productive, and meaningful lives. Our centers provide comprehensive family and community services which seek to fulfill our mission: to improve the quality of life and create promote positive social change in our community.
