History:
The ILSR was established in 1980 with the support of the RI AFL-CIO. Its initial purpose was to train union leaders. Its educational mission evolved over the years to include broader leadership training through Leadership For A Future, established in 2000, as well as becoming the largest provider of workplace literacy and training for Rhode Island's workforce.
