Institute for Labor Studies & Research

We provide a wide range of adult education opportunities. Institute programs include a weekly TV show, classes in ESL, High School GED Prep, steward training, rights on the job training, immigrant worker organizing, health & safety programs for young workers, and other assistance to union and non-union workers. If you are interested in social change at the grassroots level, and providing educational opportunites for Rhode Island workers, then contact us.

History:
The ILSR was established in 1980 with the support of the RI AFL-CIO. Its initial purpose was to train union leaders. Its educational mission evolved over the years to include broader leadership training through Leadership For A Future, established in 2000, as well as becoming the largest provider of workplace literacy and training for Rhode Island's workforce.
