Compeer, an award-winning program that brings the healing power of friendship to the treatment of mental illness, is seeking volunteers who are willing to have a one-to-one friendship with an adolescent or adult with an emotional or a mental health diagnosis. All it involves is doing the things you would normally do with a friend, like going for an ice cream or coffee, or out to the movies, to the theatre, shopping, for a walk, bike ride, arts and crafts, or just visit and enjoying each other's company. Only one hour a week (4 hours a month) is required to be a Compeer volunteer. Volunteers are interviewed and trained, and a criminal background check is done. Volunteers for one-to-one matches must be at least 18 years old. This opportunity is sponsored by: Southcoast Compeer Program
