The Alzheimer's CURE Foundation is proud to announce their Youth Leadership Program, the Alzheimer's Scholarship Challenge, geared specifically towards high school and college students throughout the country. This program is meant to further develop students' marketing, public relations, event-planning and fundraising skills and gives them the opportunity to use these skills in a real-life environment. The bulk of the money raised through these fundraisers goes towards the Alzheimer's Prize and a percentage is given back to the participating schools in the form of a scholarship to a student who meets with our requirements. Students participating in this program are given preference. If the amount of the scholarship is less than $100 in any given semester, then it goes into our Alzheimer's CURE Foundation Scholarship Fund. Students who meet certain goals will be acknowledged on our website and be given media exposure. Please visit our website at www.alzCURE.org to learn more about us. Also, if you live in Rhode Island, please be sure to watch our new, educational, TV program about Alzheimer’s called “A Tribute to Memories… The Race for the CURE!” that airs every Monday at 9:00pm, statewide, channel 13 on Cox and 32 on Verizon. In addition, if you live in the Kent County network area of Rhode Island, you can also view the program every Sunday at 1:00pm and Wednesday at 7:00pm, channel 18 on Cox and 31 on Verizon. Kent County covers the towns of Warwick, West Warwick, East Greenwich, West Greenwich, North Kingstown, Coventry and Exeter. Students who excel in this program will also be presented on our TV program. We received THE RI PEG AWARD for our TV Program on Nov. 13th, 2009 in the category of BEST HEALTH TV PROGRAM on Puclic Access TV.
All high school and college students, anywhere in the United States, with at least average and above grades may participate in the Alzheimer's Scholarship Challenge. Any student under 18 must have written consent from a parent or guardian. Students will receive training (outside Rhode Island, this training will be in the form of email and telephone communication) to help them optimize their fundraising skills. Students in Rhode Island will meet with Marie, the director of this program, usually once a week, for training and follow-up of the program. Outside the state, students will be in constant communication with her (at least twice a week). This opportunity is sponsored by: Alzheimer's CURE Foundation, Inc.
