Do you enjoy working with children and/or playing volleyball? Would you like to spend some time having fun, gaining valuable work experience, and making an important difference in children’s lives? If so, then you might be interested in applying to volunteer with the Socio-Economic Development Center for Southeast Asians’ Volleyball Program. Volleyball Program volunteers help to teach middle school children how to play volleyball and help them to practice volleyball drills. Volunteers are needed Mon./Wed. from 2:30-4 p.m. at Roger Williams Middle School and Gilbert Stuart Middle School, and Tues./Thurs. from 2:30-4 p.m. at Samuel W. Brigham Middle School. Volunteers will assist the volleyball instructor in helping the students to develop basic skills needed to play volleyball. The Volleyball Program provides children with a structured form of after-school entertainment and helps them to develop social skills by working in teams with one another. Children also develop self-confidence by playing volleyball in a positive environment. By volunteering with this program, you are able to make a significant difference in these children’s lives. The Socio-Economic Development Center for Southeast Asians (SEDC) is a Providence-based nonprofit that promotes the development of healthy and productive citizens among people with roots in Southeast Asia by facilitating their transition to life in America while cultivating their heritage. The Volleyball Program is affiliated with the Providence After-School Alliance (PASA).
Applicants should have previous experience in working with children. Please note that a background check will be conducted on all applicants. To apply, please contact SEDC Youth and Family Development Services Coordinator Pheakdey Rosa LaPorte at 401.274.8811 Ext. 24 or rlaporte.sedc@verizon.net. This opportunity is sponsored by: Socio-Economic Development Center For Southeast Asians (SEDC)
