Kids' Triathlon Court Appointed Service Opportunties Internship Group Projects

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on September 28, 2009

Kids love to swim, bike, and run, and we've put all three together for this event. Children aged 4-17 will do all the fun things they love to do in a supportive and fun atmosphere. The event begins at the RIC Recreation Center pool, and volunteers will help make sure children enter and exit the pool safely. (We have two lifeguards, but if you are lifeguard certified, we can surely use the help with all the kids in the pool, or in case another volunteer does not show up). Volunteers are needed to help the children in the transition area--the space where they pick up their bikes--doing things like making sure shoelaces are tied, helmets are on, and they are going the right direction. Out on the course, volunteers will help make sure that no child is ever out of the sight line of an adult (adult associated with the race), help direct children at turns, count "laps" on the bike course, hand out water, and offer enthusiastic support and encouragement.

We are looking for individuals who desire to help children in an athletic event. That said, if If you are volunteering to lifeguard, you must be certified to do so.
