Daily animal cage cleaning Court Appointed Service Opportunties Teen Opportunities Member Agencies

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on June 25, 2009

We need people to help us with a variety of animal related tasks every morning. We clean all of the cat and dog kennels each morning, plus we sometimes have other small animals cages that need to be cleaned. Cleaning cats requires handling the cats, cleaning the litter boxes, wiping out the cages with disinfectant, loading the dishwashers, sweeping, mopping, and feeding. Cleaning dogs may require being outside with dogs, pooper-scooping (outside and sometimes but not usually inside), picking up dishes, cleaning and changing bedding, hosing out the kennels, etc.

All volunteers who wish to work directly with animals must attend an orientation. These are held at the shelter (506 B Curtis Corner Road, Peace Dale) on alternate Saturdays require pre-registering by calling 783-7606. Both of these jobs are fairly physical, volunteers will need to be able to bend, twist and lift things.
